Bio

I've been teaching at Mardela since fall of 2016. I started in Wicomico County at Wicomico High School, starting in the fall of 1994. I've taught Ancient Civilizations, AP Psychology, U.S. History, Modern World History and Consumer Economics in Social Studies, and also English 9, 10 and 11. I was the Wi-Hi Teacher of the year for 2015-16 and Wicomico County High School Finalist for Teacher of the Year for 2016-17. And I was Mardela's Teacher of the Month for April 2017 and November 2019. Thanks, Warriors!

I'm a graduate of the College of Journalism of the University of Maryland
(Fear the Turtle!), earned credits at the University of Maryland - Eastern Shore (#HawkPride) to be accredited as a teacher, and earned a Master's degree in Education from Salisbury University (Go Gulls!). I have two kids - a daughter who's a grad student at The Ohio State University and a son who's attending UMBC.

I am a volunteer assistant wrestling coach here at MMHS and a volunteer assistant coach for Mardela's MS and JV Softball team. I also edit the school's website (go here to check it out!), the twitter feeds for sports at Mardela (@MardelaSports) and the main MMHS Twitter account (@wcboemmhs) and serve as an admin on the school's Facebook page. I'm a proud member of NEA, MSEA and WCEA as well as American Psychological Association Teachers of Psychology in Secondary Schools.

Here in Wicomico County, we have many fantastic Democratic candidates running for all levels of office. From Governor to Congress to County Council, we are working hard to make sure these candidates will get elected. We can't do it alone, however. We need volunteers willing to sign up to knock doors and make calls and register voters. If you can spare an hour or two, please sign up here and we'll add you to our list of volunteers! Thank you!!
